When the Show is Over

I need to let you go
Maybe we belong apart, I don’t know
You say you want to have me near
But, I only think you need me
To belay your fears

I’ve tried to take the past away
You try in every way, but, don’t you see it’s far too late?

My Love, it’s the closing of the play
And there’s nothing left to say
When the show is over

You need to let me go
You’ll find another heart
Where you can grow
And I promise to be kind
Maybe I can find some peace inside

And You’ve tried to take the past away
I try in every way, but, now I know it’s far too late

My Love, it’s the closing of the play
And there’s nothing left to say
When the show is over

And we’ve tried to take the past away
(Why can't we be)
There’s no point to this delay
(What we want to) (Wipe the slate clean)
‘Cause, now I know it’s far too late
(Try again?)

My Love, it’s the closing of the play
(I don't know which way to go)
And there’s nothing left to say
(But, I can't stay....)
'Cause the show is over.
